Woodhill Missions Trip July/August 2010

(Photos Here)

Dear Folks at Woodhill,

Day one - Wednesday 21 July
We left Colwyn Bay at 7:15am and arrived in the USA at 4:30pm. As we walked out of the airport
the heat hit us -95 degrees. We went straight from the airport to the Lighthouse Baptist Church,
we had some dinner at the church and then went to their midweek service. We were warmly
welcomed by the people. They put a big notice on their wayside pulpit saying, "Welcome Woodhill
Team". We introduced the young people to the church on the platform and then drove to the
different homes where we are staying. We went to bed at 10pm, that is 3am British time after
our long journey.

Day two - Thursday 22 July
We woke up at 5am the next day with only 7 hours sleep, so we have not caught up with any rest.
Today we are having a restful day in order to catch up as we are tired due to the long journey.
Went to the church today for orientation and training. We went to the Mall and Walmart in the
afternoon. We are spending the rest of the day relaxing and plan to go to bed early. The weather
is VERY HOT and physically draining. We are benefiting from air conditioning and ice in all our soft
drinks which is a necesssity here.

Day three - Friday 23rd July
Spent the day with Walt Disney! He was supposedly a Christian. He is passed away now.
Alice was in her element. She got to have her picture taken with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, & Tiger.
The teens enjoyed themselves too! Tommorrow we get to do some serious ministry, but today has been
a chill out time.

Day four - Saturday 24th July
We had lunch at "Wendy's" - this was not at somebody's house, but is a fast food restrauant.
This afternoon we spent rehearsing special music and drama for tonight's youth service. The youth Rally
consisted of eating food - the Amercans call it fellowship. They certainly know how to fellowship (!)
followed by the service in which we sang and did the drama, followed by a fun session of water war,
volleyball, and bouncy castle with water in it!

Day five – Sunday 25th July
Pastor preached at Lighthouse Baptist church this morning is text was Joshua chapter three
about the power of God and the crossing over the river Jordan. The Woodhill team performed their
drama in the evening service.

Day six – Monday 26th July
Today we distributed gospel literature in two neighbourhoods and promoted the Bible clubs and
invited children in the neighbourhoods to attend.

Day seven – Tuesday 27th July
This was the first day of the Bible clubs. Four children trusted the Lord as their Saviour in the
morning session. Praise God! Temperature is 102 degrees. 89 degrees at 9pm in the evening.
No-one turned up in the evening session in the other neighbourhood so we chilled out at the
local park. When we arrived at the park, we felt we should evangelise here tomorrow evening.

Day Eight –Wednesday 28th July
Met Damien & Ruth Ann Pickett, missionaries to England, and went out to a restaurant with them.
2nd day of the Bible club went well with a little bigger attendance. We chilled out in the afternoon
with temperatures of 104 degrees. I feel like I am melting. It is important that we take lots of fluids, some
of us are dehydrating.

Arrived at the park at 6:30pm set up the gazebo and spoke with parents
and children and asked if they would like to have their face painted and we gave them a gospel
bracelet and explained to the children the way of salvation. We had many conversations with
children and their parents. One child trusted Christ as their Saviour and he immediately started
talking to his brother about the Lord afterward. Tomorrow evening we shall return to the park.

Will give you further updates.

Lots of Love Pastor, Tina and the Missions Team
